Want To Get Started On Your
Prepping Journey?
Getting started on prepping can seem overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. Begin by making a list of the essential items you need to survive in case of an emergency, such as food, water, first aid supplies, and shelter. Then, make a plan for how to acquire and store these items. Start small by purchasing non-perishable food items and storing them in a designated area, and gradually build up your supplies over time.
Don't forget to educate yourself on important skills such as basic first aid, filtering water, and long-term food storage. By taking these simple steps, you can feel confident and prepared for any situation. Check out the information in our blogs, video library and books in the SHTF Fundamentals series created specifically for beginner preppers.

Mountains are to be climbed over and not carried
Many of us see prepping as a vast mountain when in reality, it is but a boulder that we are more than able to overcome. Whether putting away an extra $50 or buying a few extra cans of food every time you shop for groceries, every step grows you in the prepping culture. The trick to prepping is simply to start.

6 Things to Know When You're New to Prepping

Know Your Environment
You should always be aware of any potential threats or dangers in your area, as well as any potential resources or shelters you may need in an emergency.

Stay Informed
Subscribe to email alerts from local news outlets and follow trusted sources on social media. Monitor weather reports, and be aware of any warnings issued by your local government. Utilize apps and websites that provide real-time updates on potential threats. By staying informed, you can better prepare for any emergency.

Stock Up On Supplies
Make sure you have enough food, water, and other essential items like flashlights and first-aid kits. Preparing your supplies ahead of time is key to successful prepping.

Practice and Prepare
Practice makes perfect! Make sure you're familiar with your supplies and equipment and practice using them in simulated emergency situations. This will help you stay prepared and be confident in your abilities if you ever need to use them in a real emergency.

Create a plan
Knowing what to do in any emergency situation is the key to staying safe and secure. Make sure you have a plan for emergency communication, evacuation, and sheltering.

Learn From Others
Learning from the experiences of other preppers is a great way to get started. Reach out to seasoned preppers in your area, or join a preppers' group online. This way, you can get advice from experienced preppers, as well as share tips and tricks with those just starting out.
